....am Major-Debüt von R.E.M. scheiden sich die Geister. Auch an der langjährigen Fanbasis immer noch umstritten. In meinen Top 10/20/30 des Jahres würde "Green" nicht auftauchen.

Tolle Sachen dabei. Mit sehr, sehr viel Zustimmung, aber.......

....am Major-Debüt von R.E.M. scheiden sich die Geister. Auch an der langjährigen Fanbasis immer noch umstritten. In meinen Top 10/20/30 des Jahres würde "Green" nicht auftauchen.

Kann ich nachvollziehen. Ich hatte das Glück (oder auch Pech- je nach Sichtweise) R.E.M. erst zu "Adventures in Hi-Fi" Zeiten kennen und lieben gelernt zu haben und das auch nur weil meine damalige Freundin inniger Fan war. Zu der damaligen Zeit war ich in anderen musikalischen Gefilden unterwegs sodass ich Green erst Jahre nach der Erstveröffentlichung kennengelernt habe. D.h. auch dass ich diese ganze Debatte um Indie oder Major Label verpennt habe (wenn es denn überhaupt eine gab). Rückblickend betrachtet gefällt mir das Album und ist mit * * * 1/2 auch gut bewertet.
