Die Idee zu dieser (und weiteren) Sendung(en) kam mir beim Mitlesen im Thread zu den besten Tracks Frank Sinatras. Dort wurde mehrfach „I Get A Kick Out Of You“ genannt und ich habe mich daran erinnert, dass ich dieses Lied aus den frühen 1970er Jahren von Gary Shearston kannte, der damit in den englischen Singlecharts war. Die englischen und amerikanischen Charts waren damals ein wichtiges Informationsmedium, ebenso wie die Hitparaden in hr1, SWF3 und Radio Luxemburg. Man bekam die Neueinsteiger zu hören und konnte beim nächsten Mal mitfiebern, ob ein Song, der einem gefallen hatte, höher gestiegen war und im besten Fall nochmals gespielt wurde oder ob er langsam aus den Charts fiel. Mir sind dann nach und nach eine Reihe weiterer Titel eingefallen, die ich auf diesem Weg kennen und schätzen gelernt habe und die ich meist schon ewig nicht mehr gehört habe. Daraus habe ich die Sendung zusammengestellt, dabei aber ausgeschlossen, was schon in den Folgen 1-12 gespielt wurde (d.h. die meisten großen Hits). Ich beschränke mich auf die Prä-Punk/New Wave Zeit, also die Jahre 1970-1977. Auffällig war für mich im nachhinein die Vielfältigkeit der Genres. Lasst euch also ein halbes Jahrhundert zurück entführen und freut euch auf Rock, Pop, Glam, Soul, Funk, Disco, Folk, Prog, Elektronik, Comedy und mehr.
