The screaming teenage girls heard after this line were reportedly recorded by the Byrds' publicist Derek Taylor at a Byrds concert in Bournemouth on August 15, 1965.

But some question this account, claiming that the screaming was actually taken from a Beatles concert in Bournemouth two years prior. It’s a rather plausible theory – after all, Derek Taylor made his name working for The Beatles. And as Sandy Pearlman wrote for Crawdaddy magazine in 1967: “Who could scream at the Byrds? That’s just not their thing.”
